Bought one for our six year old. The nine year old took one look and demanded her own. Now they swap memory cards like trading cards. Watching them compare photos at the kitchen bench is the kind of thing I didn't know I needed.
Cousins all at mum and dad's farm over Easter. Our boy photographed every chook, dog and rusted tractor. We've got a whole archive of farm life now, including a deeply blurry but iconic shot of grandad mid-sneeze. Worth it just for that.
He documented the entire thing. Half the photos are blurry shots of the floor of the car. The other half are surprisingly decent.
Hesitated on the price. She uses it more than any toy we've bought in years. Got a stack of prints made and she's stuck them above her bed.
Our eight year old started a little photo journal. He prints shots and writes captions underneath about who's in the photo and what was happening. He's never done anything like that before. The camera unlocked a hobby we didn't even know he wanted.
Wrapped it for her eighth. She opened it before cake and that was the end of cake. Three different parents asked where we got it.
She has a thousand photos of the cat. I have my phone back.
Dropped on tiles. Left out in rain. Buried in a sandpit. Still works.
In-laws asked for a Christmas idea. Sent them this. She now calls them on the iPad and shows them her photo album frame by frame. Hits different than a video call where nobody knows what to say.
Our girl picked the camera up in minutes. The included instructions could be clearer for parents helping with settings though. Not a dealbreaker.
